Re-Elect Holly

I was born and raised in Corunna, Ontario, and I am proud to call St. Clair Township home. I am married with three children and have had the privilege of representing Ward 1 on St. Clair Township Council since 2022.

I am a semi-retired local business owner and have operated Holly’s Heavenly Touch since 1990. I am also a retired NCAA Women’s Basketball and Field Lacrosse official.

Community involvement has always been important to me. I have volunteered since I was young and, over the years, have served in many different roles including president, treasurer, secretary, and wherever else help was needed.

Today, I volunteer weekly at the Corunna Food Bank and continue to support local organizations and events such as the Brigden Fair, Corunna Legion, and Corunna Street Festival.

My Priorities

Responsible Asset Management

I believe our long-term infrastructure decisions should be closely aligned with St. Clair Township’s Strategic Plan and Asset Management Plan.

Our roads, water and wastewater systems, drainage, recreational facilities, municipal buildings, equipment, and other infrastructure all require thoughtful long-term planning. I want to make sure the decisions we make today support the needs of our community well into the future.

Financial Transparency

I will continue to request clear and comprehensive financial information so I can make informed decisions on behalf of our residents.

I believe residents deserve to understand how municipal funds are being used, why financial decisions are being made, and how those decisions support the goals we have established as a Township.

Open and Transparent Government

I believe residents deserve to know not only what decisions Council makes, but also why those decisions are made.

One of my strengths is listening to residents’ concerns, educating myself on the issues, asking questions, and then helping residents better understand the how and why behind municipal decisions.

Transparency builds trust, and I will continue advocating for improved communication between Council and our residents.

Continuing to Learn

Municipal government is complex and constantly changing. I believe it is my responsibility as a Councillor to continue educating myself so I can make informed decisions.

I regularly participate in courses, seminars, conferences, and other educational opportunities related to municipal government.

I also reach out to other municipalities to learn from both their successes and their challenges. Sharing knowledge and experience helps me better understand what may work for St. Clair Township and allows me to serve our residents more effectively.

My Record on Council

I am proud to be a voice for residents throughout St. Clair Township. Since joining Council, I have raised, supported, and advocated for a number of issues that I believe are important to our community such as:

Advocating for Local Industry

I spoke directly with Ontario Minister Rob Flack about the importance of keeping Cargill’s operations in Sarnia and the important role major employers play in our local and regional economy.

Greater Accountability for Municipal Donations

I supported the implementation of a formal municipal grant and donation policy to help establish clear criteria and greater accountability for how municipal funds are distributed to community organizations.

I believe residents should be able to see how public funds are being spent and understand the reasoning behind those decisions.

Strategic Planning

I supported the implementation of a Strategic Plan for St. Clair Township.

A strong Strategic Plan gives Council, staff, and residents a clearer understanding of our priorities and helps guide the decisions we make about the Township’s future.

Asset Management and Financial Planning

I have repeatedly asked for greater financial transparency and for our municipal decisions to reflect the priorities established in our Asset Management Plan.

I will continue asking for the financial information I need to make informed decisions on behalf of our residents.

Clean Water for Curran Avenue

I advocated on behalf of residents of Curran Avenue in Corunna regarding access to clean water.

When residents bring concerns to me, I believe it is my responsibility to listen, ask questions, and work toward practical solutions.

Understanding Flooding and Infrastructure in Corunna

Further study of infrastructure in Corunna so we can better understand existing conditions and determine whether changes or improvements are needed.

Before making major infrastructure decisions, I believe we need a clear understanding of the problem we are trying to solve.

Supporting Naturalization and Climate Resilience

I support exploring naturalization initiatives, including boulevard gardens and other approaches that can increase green space and help our communities respond to environmental and climate-related challenges.

I also believe it is important to continue learning from initiatives taking place across Ontario and Canada as municipalities look for practical and responsible ways to strengthen their communities.

Exploring New Municipal Revenue

I have requested that the Township explore naming-rights opportunities for municipal facilities as a potential source of additional revenue.

I believe we should continue looking for responsible ways to generate revenue that can help support municipal services and infrastructure while reducing pressure on taxpayers.

Why I Serve

I believe one of the most important parts of being a Councillor is listening and working hard to advocate for our municipality.

When residents bring concerns forward, I take the time to understand the issue, educate myself, ask questions, and explain what I learn.

Not every municipal decision is simple, and sometimes the answer may not be the one everyone hoped for. But I believe residents deserve an explanation. They deserve to understand why decisions are made and what information Council used to make them.

I will continue asking questions, requesting the financial information I need, educating myself on municipal matters, and sharing that knowledge with the residents I represent.

It is a privilege to serve Ward 1 and to be a voice for residents throughout St. Clair Township.
